Hi,

We are currently designing a custom board based on DM388 processor. IC TPS6591133 will be used for processor's power supply. Is it possible to synchronize the DCDC of TPS6591133 with external 1MHz clock via GPIO2 pin? We want to use spread spectrum technology to reduce EMI.

Hi, Maxim,

I think it's possible, but all DC-DC converters related recommended parts and specs must be different from datasheet since datasheet recommends to use 3-MHz external clock for DC-DC converters switching synchronization; and TI can't guarantee those specs and other changes caused by the clock frequency change.

Hi, Phil,

I changed frequency to 3 MHz, but I still not sure about synchronization via GPIO2 pin possibility. Is it possible or not?

There are 2 bits need to setup properly for the synchronization via GPIO2 pin possibility. Please see the description below:

DCDC clock configuration:
DCDCCKSYNC[1:0] = 00: no synchronization of DCDC clocks
DCDCCKSYNC[1:0] = 01: DCDC synchronous clock with phase shift
DCDCCKSYNC[1:0] = 10: no synchronization of DCDC clocks
DCDCCKSYNC[1:0] = 11: DCDC synchronous clock
