TPS24750: Absolute max current pulse rating of the internal MOSFET

Hi Team,

I would like to get your input on the customer request below:

What is the absolute maximum current pulse rating of the internal MOSFET to be within the Safe Operating Area curve of TPS24750?
The customer has a 12V application and measured the application short circuit current to be 160A @ 100ns

Please let me know if you have any questions with the customer.

Hi Jonathan,

Where are they measuring the short-circuit current.? Is it the FET current or FET + capacitor current ?

Figure 24 in the datasheet provides the SOA data for the internal MOSFET.

Thank you for your support in this thread.

According to our customer, they measure the voltage across the current sense resistor (0.002 Ohms). That may not be the short circuit current.

Pulse current rating is 151A, pulse duration <=300us, duty cycle <=2%
