BQ76930: What would happen if we connect TS1 to GND without resistor

Part Number: BQ76930

Hi team,

Customer would like to know what would happen if we connect TS1 directly to GND without a resistor? They found that no I2C communication and DSG is off.

So, need your help to explain what would happen if we connect TS1 to GND?

Wish to get your reply, thanks!

  • Hi Miles,

If the TS1 pin is connected to GND while the part is shut down it would not be possible to boot the part, so I2C would not respond, CHG and DSG would be off.

If TS1 is connected to GND after the part has been booted and external temperature (thermistor) measurement is selected, the part will convert the GND voltage resulting in a small ADC value and the temperature will be hot when calculated by the MCU.

TS1 should not be pulled below VSS, see the absolute maximum limits.
