Dear Sir/Ms.

May I request UCC28019AEVM schematic and layout source file include BOM for evaluation and design reference.

Best Regards,

Tom Chang

  • Hi Tom,

since UCC28019 is an old part, all the documents are in the TI website. Unfortunately there is no source file for the EVM to share with you.

Below link is the user guide for UCC28019 EVM, and the schematic has parameters that are all correct. I suggest you follow the schematic and the parameter value for your design.

  • Hi David,

    Thanks for your quick reply,

We have new projects that need to be evaluated. The main functions are as follows. The SMPS design will refer to the PMP40379 previously recommended by TI FAE (LLC IC will change from UCC256302 to UCC256402),

Please give your solutions and suggestions.

    Power supply

Switching mode power supply with universal input (85-240VAC)

    Total continuous power: minimum 250Wrms

Active Power Factor correction (PFC) desired

    Overcurrent protection desired

    2.2 Power amplifier

Based on Class-D solutions IC, such as TI’s TPA3255 or similar

    Power specifications

    2 x 100 W / 8 Ohm satellite channels

    1 x 200 W/ 4 Ohm subwoofer channel

    Thanks a lot

    Best Regards,

    Tom Chang

  • Hi Tom,

PMP40379 is a single stage only with LLC controller.

for your spec, PFC and LLC controller you can choose

UCC28019A+UCC256402 Solution(fixed frequency CCM PFC with brown out )

UCC28180+UCC256402 solution(adjustable frequency CCM PFC without brown out)

UCC28056+UCC256402 solution(CRM PFC without brown out)

I would suggest UCC28056 solution because it has the lowest system cost and lowest standby power.

  • Hi David,

    Thanks for your suggestion.

    1. Is there a PFC reference design using UCC28056 or UCC28180 about 400~500W, and it’s better to have source files.

    2. How to choose from UCC256402 / 03 / 04... to meet our requirements and your suggestions.

    Thanks a lot

    Best Regards,

    Tom Chang

  • Hi Tom,

UCC28056 is recommended to be used at below 350W. Below is a link to the reference design. All the source file are on the website.

UCC28180+LLC controller's reference design, please follow below link, also all the source file are on line.

For the difference of the LLC controller verison, please refer to below document:

  • Hi David,

    Thank you for your suggestion.

    1. PMP40379 is a dual power supply (+/- 42V 6A). We need SMPS of about 45V and 400W~500W. Do you have any other suggestions for similar specifications?
    2. TIDA-010081 is a 1000W power supply. We need SMPS of about 45V and 400W~500W. Do you have any other suggestions for similar specifications?

    Thanks a lot,

    Tom Chang

  • Hi Tom,

unfortunatelly, for 400-500W power level, UCC28180+UCC25640 still do not have a reference design, but now TI's reference design team is now doing 500W with UCC28180+UCC25640 for telecom application.  if you wish, you can wait for a few months for the release of this reference design.

Below link is an interleaved CRM pfc controller UCC2064A+UCC25630 llc controller, you can also use this reference design as a reference.

UCC28056 is not suitable for 400-500W.

    Hope this answers your question.

  • Hi David,

    Thank you for your suggestion.

I will study the data first, and if there are any questions, I will post them to TI E2E for help.

    Thanks a lot,

    Tom Chang
