TPS23880: Does TPS23880 needs a microcontroller to manage it's function

Hi Team,

I understand that the TPS23880 has a programmable SRAM which enables the in-field firmware upgrade thru it's I2C port. However, does it need a microcontroller to manage it's function? Is the I2C only needed during firmware upgrade?

Hi Danilo,

Yes, an mcu is still needed to set the PSE ports in semiauto or auto mode. In addition the mcu can be used for power port management just like in our FirmPSE solution which uses an msp430.
