TPS7B4254-Q1: Short to battery/short to GND protection

Hi experts,

As datasheet says, TPS7B4254-Q1 has short to battery and short to GND protection, it will trigger the internal protection function when short to battery or short to GND happens. So when the short to battery/GND fault is removed, will the device recover to normal operation mode and tracking the Vref at output automatically? Do you have any test waveform about short to battery/GND protection? Thanks.

Hi Arie,

It's unlikely the output will be latched off during the short-to-battery event. We are still waiting for the design team to confirm how the internal circuit is handling this error. Will update you soon.

I don’t think the output is latched off, but we would need to confirm from design for auto customers.

Hi Arie,

I just got to know that we actually checked this with EVM before and the output does not get latched off. More details on what happens during the STB can also be found under 7.3.3 OUT Short-to-Battery and Reverse-Polarity Protection in the datasheet.
