UCC28056: VOSNS terminal OPEN/SHORT-Circuit

Part Number: UCC28056

To Whom It May Concern

I am using UCC28056A.

What happens to the output voltage when the VOSNS terminal is in the following state?

① When the VOSNS terminal is open.

② When the VOSNS terminal is short-circuited with the ZCD / CD terminal.

③ When the VOSNS terminal is short-circuited with GND.

Is there a function to protect these?

Will UCC28056A damage the output electrolytic capacitor because it has no OVP2 protection?

  • Hi, There

Thanks for your interest in TI here. I will be happy to route your request into the appropriate expert to support. Please expect a response by end of day Thursday at the latest.

  • Hi Seto,

for Vosense shorted to GND,PFC output votlage will increase and that may cause output electrolytic capacitor to be over votlage demage.

for Vosense open pin and shorted to ZCD/CS, it should be the same as shorted to GND.

there is no way to protect the electrolytic capacitor if you do not add external OVP2.

    hope this is clear.
