BQ20Z75-V160: BQ20Z75-V160 can not charge full

Part Number: BQ20Z75-V160

Hi

My customer use BQ20Z75, and found the FCC can not charge full after high temp discharge.

The CHEM ID is 0281, Panasonic battery, capacity is 24Ah, also has run the learning cycle.

At room temperature learning the FCC is normal.

Test at high temperature 55℃: After staying in a high temperature chamber for 3 hours, start discharging with a current of 4.8A. The whole discharge process is longer than 5 hours. After discharge, let it stand for more than 5 hours at room temperature. The first time charging at room temperature, some batteries capacity less than 24Ah, like 18Ah, 22Ah, 23Ah.

Then discharge the battery through the resistor. The discharge current is between 1.8A and 1.3A. After full discharged, start to charge after 54 minutes. The second time most of the battery capacity is not full, the capacity is between 22Ah-24Ah, not more than 24Ah.

Why the battery capacity is lower than 24Ah after high temperature discharge.

Thanks

Star

  • Hello Star,

After the gauge goes through a cycle of high temperature or low temperature it may take a couple cycles to equalize back to room temperature because it learns the conditions from the temperature and expects to see it again. When it doesn't it must re-learn to the new temperature (Ra and Qmax) The gauge will estimate what the temperature should be, and if it is not then it will re-adjust as well.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
