BQ24171: About charge and discharge control

Part Number: BQ24171

Hi,

Let me talk about how to stop charging and stop discharging with an external signal.
Customer wants to use the MCU on the application to separate the battery-free mode from the normal mode.

1.
I learned from the following E2E that the ISET pin can be controlled using an external signal to stop charging.
Is there a circuit example for controlling ISET?
Also, is there any other way to stop charging using an external signal?

2.
Customers want to create a mode that stops charging and discharging using external pins.
Is there a recommended circuit example to stop the discharge?

To disable charging only a MOSFET would need to be added in parallel to the bottom resistor of the ISET network. When this MOSFET is ON, then ISET is shorted to GND and charge is disabled. When this MOSFET is OFF, then ISET is set to the appropriate current setting.

Also, is there any other way to stop charging using an external signal?

Alternatively you could add a MOSFET in series between the SRN and the battery and use that to disconnect the battery from the charger.

Is there a recommended circuit example to stop the discharge?

What do you think about this?

    Best Regards,
