BQ25619E: charger IC suggestion

Part Number: BQ25619E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25619, BQ24072, BQ24232, BQ24250

Hi team,

Customer is looking for 1 cell charger IC which with interface I2C, WQFN  package, NTC monitor, power path switch node to system load  for 1cell  +3.7V/600mAh battery.

I suggest BQ25619, but customer is not prefer the timer function.

Could you suggest suitable solution without the timer for customer?

Many thanks

Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

To which timer are you referring, the safety timer?  Almost all of our charger's have safety timers that cannot be disabled.  What are the customer'ss other requirements:

    max input voltage?

    D+/D- detection?

    max charge current?

    Regards,

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

    Thanks for your feedback!

The concern of customer that timer is not preferable, and user may see battery is not full while the charging time is over...

So almost all of our charger's have safety timers that cannot be disabled right?

    Max input voltage is 5V.

    Max charge current is 600mA.

    D+/D- detection? No.

Could you suggest suitable solution  for customer?

    Thanks

    Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

With such low charge current and 5V input, I recommend using a linear regulator based, instead of buck switch mode based, charger like BQ24072 family.  It has a TMR pin that allows you to disable the TMR.  If your customer can accept 500mA charge current, the BQ24232 is a 500mA version of the BQ24072, 1.5A family.

BQ24250 is a host controlled, buck swithmode charger that allows the host to disable safety timers.

    Regards,

    Jeff
