Hello

I choose TPS613222A to generate 5V from an 3.7 V accu li-ion in the aim to supply an USB plug. I need to have the max current of this device used alone( without any external components except the compulsory inductance)

I can't see in the datasheet the value of the permanent current that can deliver this device.

I saw peak current (1.10 A at the top of the first page an d1.8A in the device comparison table page 3)) but without any mention of duration. Most of the time, when it's a peak current, it's writte the duration (for example 10ms) of this value.

I did an experiment for 4 hours with 400ma in the load successfully but can you confirm that 1A is possible

Hi Philippe:

That's the peak current of the inductance, not the load current. And there is no duration parameter.

For 5V.1A, I think you need to add a schottky diode.

I II be able to do this if I need such current.

I only need 500mA so dO you know the max current that can deliver this device without any component added ?

Hi Philippe:

There is two major limitation for current:

1. The peak current. The details data is listed in the table in datasheet. The Ipeak=Iin+0.5*ΔIcoil. While Iin=Vo*Io/Vin/Efficiency.

2. The thermal condition. The temp of the device should not exceed the thermal protection. The power loss is Vin*Iin*(1-Efficency).

If you only care about the roomtemp, I think it's OK. But if you consider the high temp case, like Ta=85℃, then the risk is large.
