LM36010: Alternative solution for LM36010

Part Number: LM36010
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3644, LM3648

Hi team,

My customer wants to use 5V input to drive one channel 5 LEDs in series. The total voltage drop of the 5 LEDs in series is about 7~8V. So customer wants to find a boost structure LED driver. But due to customer's hardware structure limitation, they want the 5 LEDs' last cathode to be connected to GND directly and the LED driver can do the current sampling on the 5 LEDs' high side instead of low side. It is just like the structure of LM36010 as below. But LM36010's LED pin can only endure 5.5V which is lower than 5 LEDs' voltage drop. So do we have any other proper solution like the LM36010 structure? Thanks.

Best regards,

Wayne

  • Hi Wayne,

         There are two solutions for you:

         1. LM3644 which is the two-channel flash LED driver and you can use each channel to two or three LEDs it seems the forward voltage is less than 4V which is less than the OVP threshold;

         2. LM36010+LM3648 which are both single-channel drivers and you can use one to drive two LEDs and another driver three LEDs. And those two devices have two different I2C addresses and don't need to worry about the conflict for the I2C address.
