Demo Board/Evaluation Module for 4S8P 18650 Li-ion Configuration

Dear TI Team,

Could you please recommend battery management/monitoring demo boards to be used with a 4S8P Li-ion rechargeable battery pack? I think BQ24617 board is a good one, but would like to have more recommendations/choices.

The nominal voltage of the Li-ion battery pack would be 14.4V.

Just to add on this, the nominal capacity of the battery pack would be 28Ah.

Hi Mengjia,

You can look at the BQ24617 or BQ24616 (if you need JEITA functionality). They are intended to be used with charge current up to 10A

Hi Kedar,

Thank you so much for your reply. I would like to ask one more question:

I notice that there are STAT pins for Charge in progress, Charge complete, Charge suspend, timer fault, overvoltage, sleep mode, battery absent. Would it be possible for the demo board to give a low battery/external power supply needed signal? Thank you.

Hi Mengjia,

he STAT pin functionality is inbuilt, and non configurable. You would need external logic to detect low battery or input adapter insertion, and external logic to show external indication. The STAT pins cannot be configured for this.

The PG pin indicates when a valid VCC is inserted.
