TPS22965: Vin = Vbias =5V; Von = 3.3V

Part Number: TPS22965
The datasheet seems to suggest that due to the low threshold setting of the ON pin, that it can support various input types (1.2V, 1.8V, 3.3V...) From my understanding, using the device with Vin = Vbias = 5V and Von = 3.3V is perfectly within datasheet spec. None of the graphs show characteristics with ON at a lower voltage. Is it safe to assume things like the switching parameters and DC characteristics are not related to VON? As long as the voltage crosses the threshold, the device turns on/off. This voltage doesn’t affect any major datasheet parameters, so doesn’t have characterization info for different ON voltages because of this. Would that understanding be correct? Darren
  • Hi Darren,

Assuming that the BIAS and IN voltages are in the acceptable range, the ON pin behavior is as follows:

Any voltage above 1.1V will turn on the device

Any voltage below 0.5V will turn off the device

Behavior between 0.5V and 1.1V on this pin is not defined and not correct operation of the device.

I believe this is similar to your understanding of the device.
