On the BQ77216 datasheet, it is a little unclear to me how much available power there is on the COUT and DOUT pins on the active high version of this device. Does the active high version have enough available power to drive an LED on a VOL617A optocoupler? Target current 5mA or greater. Forward voltage drop of 1.5V max.
If we could use the active high version to drive the LED, it would save some cost on the board.
