UCC28950: COMP Short to GND

Part Number: UCC28950

Hi Guys

Our customer want to short COMP to GND to simulate the OCP condition. schematic is similar with our EVM schematic. But when they short the COMP to GND, the UCC28950 device is dameged. So could we use this action to simulate OCP conditions?  why or why not?

additionally, if we want to simulate output OVP condition, how can we do? Tie COMP to 4.25V to simulate OV condition?

Your feedback are very appreciated.

Thanks

  • Hello,

Shorting the comp pin to ground will not simulate and OCP.  Why don't you keep increasing the load until an OCP is triggered.

The UCC28950 was designed for secondary side regulation and does not have OVP.  The converter should just demand 0% duty cycle when the output goes above the regulation point.
