BQ40Z50-R1: Emergency Shutdown Mode

Hi Team,

I'd like to implement the emergency shutdown mode enable in BQ40z50-R1. In Bq studio we  have checked  the emergency shutdown mode, According to the technical reference manual (bq40z50-r1 Page-44, Sec-5.5.2) in my smart battery pack,We have given the commands , But my battery does  not goes to emergency shutdown mode , but some time its goes to emergency shutdown mode. i don't understand the what happens. Can you explain why its happen ???.. 

We have given the commands during  Battery Sealed mode only.

    Can you share the .gg file for your configuration?

    The EMSHUT function has some delay and won't happen immediately: The CHG and DSG FETs will be off after Manual FET Control Delay.

    Have you also enabled the EMSHUT function in DA config?

    ya sure. Here attached the .gg file.  bt16.gg.csv

    Thanks for the info. The manual FET control delay is 60S. In emergency shutdown mode will not triggered after Manual FET Control Delay.

    Have you also enabled the EMSHUT function in DA config?

    I am not sure its enabled or disabled in DA configuration. Will check and let you know soon.

    Hello Vel,

    I reviewed your .gg file, you do not have EMSHUT_EN set to 1, so the feature is disabled. To enable it set the DA config to 0x37 in your .gg and upload it to the gauge. Or you can manually change it in the Data Memory tab in bqStudio.

    Hi  Wyatt Keller ,

    Thanks for your response. As per our suggestion enabled the EMSHUT_EN . But still we got same behavior.

    Once wakeup from EMSHUT any condition needed (Like any delay) again go back to the shutdown mode .

    Hello Vel,

    You can check all the condition for the EMSHUT mode in the TRM section 5.5 Emergency FET Shutdown (EMSHUT). There are no other hidden conditions to enter the EMSHUT mode.
