BQ27426: Conditions when OCV is performed?

Part Number: BQ27426

Hi there,

I understand a big part of the fuel gaging algorithm relies on OCV (Open Circuit Voltage) measurement so I am trying to make our system make sure this is performed in optimal conditions in our application.

I also understand that the OCV measurement is performed when the chip is in Relaxation mode - Can you confirm if RELAXATION mode is a subset of NORMAL mode? I cannot make sure 100% from the datasheet.

From the graph below, I understand what the coniditions for the part to enter Relaxation mode are, and that they can be modified in flash - but can you confirm whether the chip will do that automatically when the conidtions are met or if it needs to be triggered by the system?

A of last questions:

  • I understand a soft reset will delete previous OCV measurement and start a new simulation - is that correct
  • However what would happen if the system doesnt meet the conditions where OCV can be performed at the time of the reset and for quite awhile? Is that likely to result in poor fuel gaging estimates given that the algorithm doesnt have a OCV to work with?

Hopefully you can help with some of those!

Thank you,

Mickael
