BQ24172: Low current from battery to charge circuit if charging is terminated and wall adapter is present

Part Number: BQ24172

Dear Sir or Madam,

if the wall adapter is present and charging is terminated, we have the probleme, that a low current (~ 5mA) discharges our battery.

When i look at the switching node (Pin 1 and 24) with an osciloskope i can see a picture like figure 4 in the datasheet. This signal could be seen every millisecond.  In the datsheet i could found chapter 9.3.14 (Charge Undercurrent Protection) witch could explain this behaviour. Could you confirm this?

We have also modified the outer circuit of the chip with an FET between pin 13 (ISET) and GND. We used this FET to disable the charger by our system. If we do this, our battery does not discharge even more, but the charge undercurrent protection also did not reload the bootstrap capacitor. So could you explain, if this is a safe state for the chip?

Best regards

M. Schmidt
