Hello, 

How would I get this charger to recognize when a battery is plugged in and automatically start charging it? I have read section 8.3.4.1. If I  (1) had a switch that can connect CD pin to ground  and (2) programmed it to have EN_CHG = 1 before disconnecting the computer from the chip, would this satisfy the conditions for this chip to automatically start charging when a battery is connected?

    Hi Brendan,

    The charger default is EN_CHG =1.  So as long as CD pin is low and battery is below the default VBATREG, the charger should start charging.  If you make any register changes from the default, keep in mind that if the watchdog timer is not pinged every so often or disabled, the many registers (including VBATREG, ICHG) revert to defaults.
