TPS1H000-Q1: Maximum rating of Delay pin

Part Number: TPS1H000-Q1

Hello,

                     We plan to use TPS1H000-Q1 for output control.The operting condition as below.

                             VS = 8~32V , current limit is 200mA , and standalone operation in auto-retry mode , but disable DIAG_EN (Fig.21)

                 I have two quesitons

           1. Can Delay pin be connected to VS directly because it looks like its maximum raing is 7V on page 4?

           2. If DIAG_EN is low , should it still need 15kohm pull-up resistor(FIG.22)?

          Thanks,

          CY

  • Hello CY,

    1) For auto-retry mode you need a 100kΩ from the DELAY pin to VS. As you mentioned the absolute maximum rating of that pin is 7V so the 100kΩ resistor will mitigate any absolute maximum violations on this pin.

    2) You do not need this pull-up resistor if you do not plan on having a microcontroller attached to read the FAULT status. This resistor is used for open load detection only. If this is a standalone switch where the FAULT pin does not report to a microcontroller then this pull-up resistor is not needed.

    Also keep in mind that the DIAG_EN pin will have an internal pull-down so you can leave this floating if diagnostics are not required.
