Hi Team,

My customer is using TLV75901 with TJ up to 140 degrees. customer worries about the high temp can derate the life time of the device. Do you have method/curve/calculations to evaluate how temp affects the life time？

Hi Yang,

It is good to see that your customer is thinking about the effect that temperature has on the long term reliability of an IC, most people mistakenly believe that devices specified up to Tj=125 can run at that temperature for 10 years. However, the industry standard JEDEC (JESD22-A108 and JESD47) and AEC-Q100 (Grade 1) standards require the life time reliability of a device to allow it to operate at Tj=55C for approximately 9 years. The name of the reliability test for this is High Temperature Operating Lifetime (HTOL) and the standard is to run a device at Tj=125C for 1000 hours which equates to the use case of Tj=55C for 9 years.

Attached is an Excel tool that the customer can use to compare their mission profile to that of the JEDEC qualification standards. Using it we can see that running the device at Tj=140C we would expect a minimum operating lifetime of 477 hours.
