TPS80032:Unable to turn on the PMIC

Part Number: TPS80032

It has been confirmed that VSYS/VRTC/CLK32.768K are all normal

But NRESPWRON has kept low and did not pull up

All LDOs are inactive and the charging function cannot be turned on either.

Using I2C to communicate with PMIC will get the register value as FFFFF

What caused the problem?

  • Hello,

The NRESPWRON is released at the end of the power-on sequence.

    Power-on transitions: T1

    – System is in NO SUPPLY or BACKUP state. Connection of a valid energy source initiates the transition to WAIT-ON state.

    – Triggering event: VSYS > VSYSMIN_LO

         • Insertion of a charged main battery

         • Precharge is active main battery voltage rises

    – Condition: VUPR > VPOR

Can you confirm that the condition is met?

    Regards,

    Chris

  • Where can I find VUPR ?

I cannot find the VUPR or VPOR in reference circuit

It looks like part of the internal process

How do I confirm this ISSUE?

  • and Can you explain how BOOT MOD works?
    Our current settings

    BOOT0 :1

    BOOT1 :0

    BOOT2 :1

cannot activate TPS80032 with power key

How to set if I want to activate PMIC through POWER KEY?

  • Hello,

The VUPR is the voltage of the uninterrupted power supply.  Please see figure 5-3 of the datasheet which shows the mechanism to determine where VUPR is sourced from.  VPOR is the POR voltage.  The POR threshold is defined in table 4.5.15. of the datasheet.

    Regards,

    Chris

  • Hello,

The device variant will determine the impact of BOOT0,1, and 2.  See section 5.3.7.1.  Please consult the EEPROM Application Note for the variant you are using.

    Chris
