BQ25611D: VSYS status bit during boost mode

Good day team,

I would like to use the VSYS_STAT bit during boost mode to warn me before the battery runs out completely.

My Vsys_min is set to 3.2V, and the Vsys_stat updates accordingly when in charging mode. But when in boost mode this bit remains 0. It does, however, exit boost mode when it comes to 2.8V (correct).

Why is VSYS_STAT bit not updated during boost mode when VBAT goes under Vsys_min?

Wynand,

Operating in reverse mode the VSYS_MIN regulation loop is not active. Therefore the VSYS_STAT bit will always read 0 as the IC is not in SYS_MIN regulation.

Wynand,

The protection described in 9.3.9.5.2 Battery Over-Discharge Protection does not report to the register map unfortunately. A simple solution would be to use an external SVS to monitor the battery voltage and feed the output of the SVS to a GPIO.

Is the VSYS_MIN regulation loop working any differently on the BQ25619 or will the VSYS_MIN status bit also not be updated during boost operation?

Unfortunately, they are of the same family of parts and the VSYS_MIN loop works identically between the two parts.
