BQ24032A: USB with D+ and D- Connections

Hi,

I am working on a project in which the system needs to be powered by both AC and USB(One source at a time). The USB port will have serial communication as well. Could there be any problem(in terms of power and communication) if the D+ and D- pins are connected to the FTDI chip and powered up by BQ24032A?.

Hi Ashok,

I do not believe there would be any issues with communication. As long as the FTDI 230 current consumption is low enough for the BQ24032A, I do not believe this to be an issue.

There will only be an issue in power if current draw causes the output to drop enough that even battery supplementing current is not enough. If the current draw is low, there will be no issues as mentioned before.

Hi Ashok,

I don't see any issue from the charger side. You might want to check with FTDI documentation on the 3.3V supply timing and any restrictions on how long before it is available.
