TPS65930 backup battery charging

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65920

Hi,

I would like to enable backup battery charging to maintain the TPS65920 RTC.  I have seen Linux kernel patches which add drivers/power/twl4030_bci_battery.c which seems to have code to set the BBCHEN bit to enable the charger.  Is this the only driver code required to turn on the charger or are there other supporting kernel changes required?

Thanks,

John

  • Hi John,

I can confirm that the backup battery charging is done by setting the BBCHEN bit. However, on the software side I dont know how this is done. From your comments it looks like you searched thru the code and found this driver. If that is the only place where you find then yes, that is the only driver.

In case you want to enable only the backup battery charging without using the bci code then I would assume that you can write a standalone driver for this. I am sorry for assuming this, I am not aware of details and complexity of the software.

    Gandhar.
