TPS561208: TPS561208

Part Number: TPS561208

Dear TI Team,

We designed PCB as per your reference circuit for part number TPS561208 DC DC. We applied input 12V but we got variable output. I have attached schematic of circuit. Please see the below attached file and help us to get desired output.

  • Hi,

    The LC seems too large.

Suggest to refer "Table 8-2. Recommended Component Values" or WEBENCH tool.

  • hi ,

Actually I did not connected output cap in series to Inductor , now I connected and its working. Thanks.

How about generating 3.3vdc using Tps561208 for powering microcontroller, will it generate lesser ripple compared to LDO?

Only am worried is of out put ripple which if used as Vref supply of ADC block of microcontroller than it should not vary by large amount , else my ADC counts will vary .

    Thanks & Regards,

    Rohit

  • Hi,

what' s the Output Voltage Ripple Ratio you expected ? Normally you can add larger cap to reduce the output voltage ripple.

For short, you can check this ripple data with WEBENCH tool , "Peak-to-peak output ripple voltage" under system information .

  • HI,

Ripple ratio expected is lesser than what  LDO are delivering .

And I will check web bench tool as suggested by you.

Secondly , in order to check current handling capability of TPS561208 with 1 A capability & o/p voltage as +5vdc, we are facing issue with 100mA Load Resistor when connected across o/p of TPS561208 . It got Burnt also.

Please suggest what could be the cause.

    Rohit

  • Hi Rohit,

Normally switching regulator ripple would be larger than LDO.

Secondly, I don’t understand your question. Do you mean add 100mA load between TPS561208 output and GND, then the device damage?
