TPS1H100-Q1: 200v diode in parallel with Rgnd

Hi team,

My customer is using the tps1h100-q1 now, We want to check why we need 200v diode here. Whether we can use a 50V diode instead. The Rgnd is 1kohm, Ignd we need to use 50mA? Could you please share more details? Thanks.

Hi Frank Xiao,

The important specs to follow when building your ground network are a recommended 1K ohm resistor and a diode with at least If = 0.1mA. In addition, we also recommend the diode to have a Vf<0.6V in order not to interfere with the communications with an external MCU by causing a voltage offset. The reverse blocking voltage on the diode should be enough based on your design and battery voltages. This diode must be able to withstand the reverse voltage condition.

Notice, that the ground network can be eliminated by using a protection device (ideal diode or another type of diodes) on the upstream rail.
