LM61440-Q1: How to perform a PSPICE model in CST

Part Number: LM61440-Q1

Hello guys:

I'm a EMC engineer, Call me Mark.

I downloaded the LM61440-Q1 PSPCE model from the TI website to simulation the EMI in CST, but I found it won't perform well.

I didn't know where or what is wrong.

Here is the error message from CST:

Error while interpreting sub-circuit for block SPICE1:
Parser error:
Undefined type of circuit element ($CDNENCSTART_ADV2).
Context: $CDNENCSTART_ADV2
1 error occurred.

The $CDNENCSTART_ADV2 in the model file is sth like this, I do not copy it all, because it looks like all the same thing:

.SUBCKT LM61440AFS-Q1_TRANS AGND BIAS CBoot EN_SYNC FB PGND1 PGND2 RBOOT RESET_N

+ RT SW VCC VIN1 VIN2 PARAMS: steady_state = 0
$CDNENCSTART_ADV2

The model download from web is a Zip file, and I choose the xxxxx.lib and  6144_tran model, just like the picture below.

Pls tell me where is wrong, and help fix it.

Thx.

  • Hi Mark,

I am not familiar with this CST program. Can you provide some more reference on it? What I can say about the available PSpice model is that it can be imported into the PSPSICE for TI Design toolkit to simulate steady state operation of the device.

You can find both PSpice transient model and simulation tool in the "Design & development" section of the product folder. Though this is not simulation, I would suggest taking an actual LM61440-Q1EVM and physically test in an EMI chamber for both conducted and radiated.

However if you are having issues with CST, I'd suggest contacting the appropriate CST tech support for further assistance on this matter since I'm not particularly familiar with this CST tool.

    Regards,

    Jimmy

  • Hi, Jimmy:

    Happy new year!

CST is a Dassault‘s program designed to simulate the 3D electromagnetic problems which is very similar to the Ansys HFSS, and we can simulate EMC problems by it.

I believe CST tech support couldn't solve this issue, since they don't have the ability to repair a TI's model.

  • Hi Mark,

I will need to contact the modeling team who may have more insight on this model compatibility issue.

Please expect delays in response since this is holiday season.

    Regards,

    Jimmy

  • Hi Mark,

Currently I still reaching out the internal teams to get more clarity on this.

However from my understanding of the situation, this mode should work in the PSPICE tool that is on TI.com.

Outside of that, there may be some syntax error/ complications with using this mode in other software.

As of right now, I would say that this model file doesn't work with CST program.

Again if I get more information on this, I'll let you know.

    Regards,

    Jimmy
