TPS62088: Vsw AC duration time

Part Number: TPS62088

Hi,

In the datasheet, on the page of Absolute Maximum Ratings, the voltage of SW(AC) only said that the AC duration time is less than 10 ns. I an wondering if anyone can tell me the exactly time of the AC duration time or it is too small that can not be measured?

Thank you.

  • Hi Zack,

The datasheet doesn't specify the actual duration of the AC peaks of the switch node, which depends on several factors, like e.g. application layout. It only specifies that, as long as the SW voltage peak duration and amplitude do not exceed 10ns and -2.5V(min) / +10V(max), then the converter's operation is safe.

Voltage spikes at the SW node are an expected behavior due to the switching operation principles of DC/DC converters. As long as appropriate care is given to the application layout, they do not cause damage or malfunction.

The application note below provides help in understanding the Absolute Maximum Ratings of the SW node, and gives advice on proper measurement techniques and layout best practices.

Please let me know in case anything is not clear.

    Thanks, Yann

  • Hi Yann,

Thanks for your help! I'll study the document.

    Best Regards.
