BQ40Z50-R2: calibration error while in rest mode

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hello ,

I have done calibration many times , every time when i remove load ,the discharge current i not coming back to 0mA it is always showing offset current of -200mA approx ,i am facing this problem recently,

2.I am doing learn cycle ,as i tried to empty the  battery and wait for REST flag to set ,even after 10 hours REST flag is not setting ,and discharge current is not reaching to zero (load removed)

3.what can be term voltage value if my battery pack voltage range is from 10 volts(0%soc) to 14.6 volts(100%soc).

4.i want to know the reason why REST mode is not set.

i am attaching log and gg files

my log file is very long ...i am uploading few log data

Best Regards,

Eeswari.Untitled 1.log8015.verified bms config.gg.csv

  • Hello Eeswari,

I think the log you shared is corrupted or a file format I haven't seen before. Can you share the raw data log from bqStudio?

The REST flag is most likely not being set because the gauge still thinks there's current flowing. There needs to be current < quit current to enter RELAX mode.

The terminate voltage should be 10V if you want the gauge to report 0% SOC at 10V.

Is this on a custom PCB or the EVM?

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello,

Can you say what could be the reason for "I have done calibration many times , every time when i remove load ,the discharge current i not coming back to 0mA it is always showing offset current of -200mA approx ,i am facing this problem recently," query.

What should be done to resolve it.

Log file is very long above  9 mb so i look small portion of it to upload

    Regards,

    Eeswari.

  • Hello Eeswari,

The calibration error can also be caused by the PCB or other issues on the board like parasitics. Did the error occur randomly? How many boards is it happening too/what percentage of the boards?

My applications say the data is corrupted, I cannot open it.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello ,

Actually i have done few cycles successfully on this board, after shipping to some other place for testing..i am experiencing this continues discharge and calibration issues..

In one cards ,voltage are not measuring accurately while charging is

It is occurring only on one board from 6 custom boards..

Give me your mail address  i will

    mail the complete  log file

    Best Regards,

    Eeswari.

  • Hello Eeswari,

I'm not sure what would cause this issue unless the board was damaged in the shipping process.

    I sent you a request on e2e.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
