MC33063A-Q1: Output current at 5V to 12V

Hi Team, 

We have a customer who wants to use MC33063A-Q1 to step up the voltage from 5V to 12V at 0.5A output current. Can this device output 0.5A from a 5V input to 12V output? What would be the value of inductor and resistor Rsc in Figure 10 of the datasheet? Is the 180 W resistor connected to pin 8 a typo error?

    Hi Danilo,

    the device can't support 0.5A output current as the input peak current must less than 1.5A, which means less than 0.75A average input current. considering the boost ratio and efficiency, 0.5A can't be supported.

    I would suggest TLV61048 for this application.
