TLC59116: rise and fall times of output pins

Part Number: TLC59116

I need the rise and falltime specs for the output pins.  I measured one and it was 85nS on, and 40nS off.  But since the smallest PWM pulse is a single 40nS wide pulse, it seems to me that the device is going to have reduced output for the bottom few (single digit wide pulse widths) brightness levels.  Any thoughts?

  • Hi Nicholas,

Yes the output would be shaped and cannot output whole pulse if setting PWM at low level. Internal clock would make output open only 40ns when setting PWM at 1, but due to the large falling time, voltage cannot be pulled down enough. I think there is no good way to improve it. Reduce the distance between LED and output pin may help to reduce the parasitic capacitor and lower the falling time.
