Help recommend the eFuse component

Please help recommend the eFuse component to us. Our requirements are as follows

1. Due to the eFuse put on the USB2.0 power rail of the board, the output voltage is 5V~5.2V, and the output current is around 60mA~100mA (under 100mA). The board within eFuse connects to the external wearable device for the charging function.

2. The eFuse has supported the external R(ILIM). The R(ILIM) resistance can be set by ourselves based on the current limit requirement.

3. The eFuse must send an event to MCU when the overcurrent, overvoltage, UVLO, or OVLO of eFuse is triggered.

4. The Rds(on) is as small as possible.

5. The package is as small as possible as our board room is small.

6. Could you help provide these two types of parts that are auto-retry and Latch-off type?

Hi Derek,

TPS2596xx family of Efuse would be a good choice. It has both auto-retry and latch-off variant available.

1. It can support 5v operation

2. It has external RILM using which current limit can be adjusted from 125mA to 2A

3. Low 89mohm Ron

4. 4.91 mm x 3.9 mm package size

5. It has overcurrent protection ,OVLO/UVLO protection. It has FLT pin for OVLO and overtemperature shutdown indication.

I am wondering if there is a smaller package as the PCB room is considerably small. and would you have other parts with internal RILM? and low Ron, Thanks.

Hi Kunal,

Sorry, my mistake about RILM. We can set the current limit by RILM.

The max current limit is 50mA we need. is there any solution you can provide?

I have another question, based on our situation, I would like to know the power switch solution is better than the e-fuse?

Hi Derek,

Please see TPS25200 . It has a 2mm*2mm package size and minimum current limit of 85mA.

eFuse is a type of power switch. So I did not get your question ,do you mean any other device than eFuse?
