UCC28950: How to configure the circuit from SLUM169B file to output 48V or 60V

Part Number: UCC28950

Hi Team,

A customer simulated the circuit from SLUM169B from the product page of UCC28950 in PSpice. The circuit is set to output 12V. The customer would like to set the device to output 48V or 60V. What are the components he need to modify to meet his application?

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hello,

I could not find the SLUM169B reference design on the UCC28950 home page.  However, if it is the 600W evaluation module with the a 12 V output that you can find at the following link.

    I have the following recommendations.

    1. Change the primary transformer turns ratio.

    2. The output capacitor and SR FETs will have to change to higher voltage rating.  You can keep the RMS current ratings of these devices the same.

    3. The output voltage may be too high for SRs and you may have to go with fast recovery or SiC diodes.

I would suggest that the customer review the application note that gives guidance on how to design a PSFB.  Please note the example given in the application note are based on the 600W evaluation module.

It also maybe worthwhile for the customer to review their design with the UCC28950 excel design tool which can be found at the following link.  The excel tool has the same equations as the application note and was also checked with the UCC28950 600W evaluation module design.

The feedback to set the DC voltage and the loop compensation will need to be changed as well.  The excel design will calculate what these output should be.

    Regards,
