Yes.

We use gauge SMBus with our host. But I don't want to interface the charger with the host.

In other words, the charger should not need the SMBus (or I2C) to function properly.

My most important criterion is the switching frequency; I need1 MHz or more (ideal).

The BQ25710 is not very integrated (the switches are outside). This is not a problem, but it is not ideal.

If I can set with hardware pins the charging current (say 2Amp to get 1Amp per cell) that would be a bonus.

If the charger has the power path function, I must be sure that it can be bypassed.

BQ25790 or its family product might be a good fit to your application. It has a few key features that you are looking for:

- 1.5M fsw

- a near-standalone charger (minimum setup from Host depending on application)

- integrated FET

The package is not very user friendly for debugging, but the proposition may work.

Is there a plan to add a different package for the BQ25790?

I do the design next week.

It goes into production next month.

The charger is a bonus in our design. We are charging externally at the moment.

I could consider this new package on the PCB without populating it.
