TPS1663: Relationship between ± 7% of current limit and tolerance of RILIM resistor

Part Number: TPS1663

Is the current limit ± 7% including the 1% resistance of RILIM?

① Does not include resistance tolerance
IOL (TYP) = 18 / (3.0K) = 6.00A
In this case: 5.58A (-7% of 6.0A) to 6.42A (+ 7% of 6.0A)

② Including resistance tolerance
IOL (MAX) = 18 / (3.0K × -1%) = 6.06A × + 7% = 6.48A
IOL (TYP) = 18 / (3.0K) = 6.00A
IOL (MIN) = 18 / (3.0K × + 1%) = 5.94A × -7% = 5.52A
In this case: 5.52A-6.48A

  • Hi Masanori Yachi,

We include resistor tolerance as well but we use 0.1% tolerance resistor. So, the impact on the accuracy will be much less.

If you plan to use higher tolerance resistor then calculations as per your step-2 needs to be used. So, the range will be 5.52A-6.48A

    Best Regards, Rakesh
