BQ25601: BQ25601 configure problem

Part Number: BQ25601
Hi

As shown in the figure below, if my requirement is Ibus=1.5A and Ibat=1A rechargeable battery, can I set the following? Thank you 1. Set 1.5A in IINDPM 2. Set 1A in ICHG The application after this setting is as follows, please help to confirm that this is correct? 1. When Isys requires 0.5A, the 1.5A of Ibus is divided into two channels (Isys=0.5A for Loader, Ibat=1A for charging) 2. When Isys requires 1.5A, so 1.5A of Ibus is given to Isys, and Ibat=0A does not charge 3. When Isys requires 2.5A, all 1.5A of Ibus is used for Isys plus Ibat=1A, so Isys has 2.5A for Loader 4. Will ICHG be set to 1A, which will restrict the Isys current limit to only 1A output to the Loader? 5. Does Isys have a current limit that can be set?
  • Hi,

    1. The charger load current is the sum of the charging current and the system current. The input power at VBUS supports the load output power.

    2. Referring to 8.3.7.9 Dynamic Power management on the d/s, when the device is in DPM, the device reduces the charge current until the input current falls below the input current limit and the input voltage rises above the input voltage limit. When the charge current is reduced to zero, but the input source is still overloaded, the system voltage starts to drop. Once the system voltage falls below the battery voltage, the device automatically enters the supplement mode where the BATFET turns on and battery starts discharging so that the system is supported from both the input source and battery.

    3. Referring to 8.3.10.4.3 System Over-Current Protection on the d/s, there is battery discharging overcurrent limit.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Ning

Thank you for your reply, The current control of 25601 is the following parameters:

    1. Write REG: 0xB value: 0x80

    2. Write REG: 0x0 value: 0x0F

    3. Write REG: 0x2 value: 0xB2

    4. Write REG: 0x5 value: 0x66

After setting the parameters, read the charging status as follows:

    REG08: 0x65

    REG09: 0x85

    REG0A: 0x80

    REG0B: 0x11

But the charging current is only 1mA, please help me to see which side needs to be changed

  • Hi,

REG09=85 indicates TS Cold. So the charging is disabled. Please refer to 8.3.7.5 JEITA Guideline Compliance During Charging Mode on the d/s for the details.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
