ULN2803A: Paralleling ULN2803A and Overcurrent Protection

Part Number:

Hi

I want to drive solenoids with ULN2803A. I am planning to use 2 parallel wired ULN2803A. Is there any protection against high current? Solenoids that I use are draining 1.3A at 24V but 1A is also enough them to operate. Could chip limit over current?

Also is that possible to parallel them like circuit that I shared?

Thanks.

ULN2803A do not have any overcurrent protection, and can not limit the current in the case of overcurrent situation.

Yes, you can do this. Each leg may not consume exactly the same current due to the manufacturing tolerances, but this shouldn't be an problem

  • Thank you for your reply.

Is there any difference between ULN2803ADWR and ULN2803ADWRG4?

  • Mehmet,

They are exactly the same part. No differences.
