LMR36503: Passing ISO16750-2 test

Part Number: LMR36503

Hi Team,

This is customer request, can you please advise:

"

We want to pass the ISO16750-2 centralized load dump test with the test signal in the picture below, with Us * voltage being 58V.
I'm thinking of using LMR36503MSC5RPERQ1 or LMR36503RS5QRPERQ1 to pass this test without using TVS.
LMR36503's max. Since the operating voltage is 65V, it will also work at 58V and I think I will pass the test without using TVS.

In ISO16005 ESD test;
Is the ESD signal applied only to the output pins of the electronic board?
Is ESD signal applied to Battery + and GND inputs of electronic card?
He stated that LMR36503 has ESD protection in the values in the table below in the datasheet.
Are these values enough to pass the ISO16005 test?
Do I have to use TVS to provide a higher level of ESD protection?
If I am going to use TVS, how many volts do I need to choose the TVS?

"

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

Furkan Sefiloglu

  • Hi Furkan,

I don't think a TVS diode will be needed for the load dump. The maximum operating input voltage is 65V with a 70-V abs max.
I will reach out to the appropriate engineer who has more knowledge on the ESD testing procedures and get back to you as soon as possible.

But first, can you provide more information on the ISO16005 test? What are the parameters/details?

    Thanks,
    Alejandro

  • Furkan,

It's been about a week and I have not had a response from you. I will assume that the issue has been resolved and as such I will close out this thread. If you are still having issues, please feel free to reopen thread at your convenience.

    Thanks,
    Alejandro
