LM5116: Current Sensor of LM5116

Hi Sir

I am trying to do a Battery charger project using the LM5116 Synchronous Buck Controller. I can place Rs in figure 1 instead of figure 2
My purpose is to use the output current (battery) for the MCU to drive the charger. LM5116 has done that please help me know

Hi Nhat,

LM5116 CS and CSG pin can't be used as LM5140's CS pin for high-side current sensing.

you may need to use amplifier and current sense resistor to provide current information to LM5116 and MCU

Thank you for your answer.
I will have to add a current sensor at the output of LM5116 to provide current information to LM5116 and MCU right?

Hi Nhat,

Yes, you need to add a current sensor to do that, also pay attention to the bandwidth of the amplifier as it needs to provide transient switching current information to LM5116
