BQ25713: What is the function of SRP/SRN resistor?

Part Number: BQ25713

Hi team,

The customer ask for 2 questions.

1. What is the function of SRP/SRN resistor? Can you briefly describe theory?

2. Do you have experience that the SRP/SRN 10 ohm resistor value are drifted?(10ohm→45ohm, 10ohm→414ohm)

Best regards,

Hardy

  • Hi Hardy,

Those resistors are for protection and balancing purpose. There are almost no current flowing though, Values should NOT drift!

Do you take the resistor off the board and measure? If on board, your value might have included other components.

Do you have problem sensing the IBAT? Under normal condition, those resistors should NOT impact your current sensing on R8.

  • Hi Linhong,

This case cannot charge to battery.

If the two resistors are unbalanced, how does it cause the charger to stop charging battery?

    Best regards,

    Hardy

  • Hi Hardy,

In an ideal world, it shouldn't matter. However there are always some leakage into SRN/SRP. if resistors are not balanced, the difference of voltage drops on two resistors will be added into sensed voltage for current measurement. Your ICHG regulation will be very off, and cause problems.
