BQ24617: Layout Design Guideline: Analog ground and the power ground

Part Number: BQ24617

Hi

We saw the one of the layout guidelines (please see below) in the bq24617 DS and would like to check with you about this guideline. Does that mean when we do the layout, there will be three grounds: analog ground, power ground and charger power ground, we should connect analog ground and power ground to the power pad first, before wire it to the charger power ground? Please help to clarify, thanks.

  • Hi Jack,

The above point is just referring to split between a power ground and analog ground, so 2 ground layers. This is to ensure the analog sensitive pins are not referenced to the same ground return path as the high frequency switching components that carry high current, and that they are only connected close to the IC.
