UCC28880: AC/DC : Coil replacement (with 400 VDC surge proof specs)

Part Number: UCC28880

Team,

Customer is using UCC28880 for none-Isolated AC/DC with the below Coil from Wuerth for a while , that seems to be now obsolete.
    https://www.we-online.de/katalog/datasheet/768775268.pdf
    (400 VDC surge proof according WE-STD 1516 )
It does not seem that manufacturers do provide values for the insulation of the coil wire.

-From your experience what manufacturer do offer coils for which we would feel confident with in this aspect?
-Could we help select a "good" quality alternative (as it does not seem straight forward to find one)?

Thanks in advance,
A.

  • Hello,

The voltage rating is supplied on the Wurth data sheet of 400 V.

It seems that your question is that you want to double check the wire they used in the inductor design to make sure it can withstand 400 V.  Or switch to an inductor where the magnetic manufacturer give you this information.

You could try contacting Wurth to see if they will give you that information.  However, most magnetic manufactures will only give you the RMS current and voltage ratings.  So I do not know of magnetic manufacture that provides the wire material and insulation they used in the design of there magnetic.   So I cannot recommend a substitute.  However, I cannot see why the magnetic manufacture would not provide this information.  I would suggest you double check with them.

The  other option you have is to find a magnetic from a different manufacture with equivalent voltage  and current information to see if they will provide you with this information.

    Regards,
