TPS60400 FOR ECG

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS60400, TPS60403

HELLO TI PEOPLE

IM USING A TPS60400 FOR SUPPLYING A Instrumentation Amplifier with -3,7V but im having a problem in the output signal after doing filters and gain im seeing in the signal the  output ripple voltage of tps60400, i have read the datasheet and i put the post filter rc and rlc that you recommend but im still having this ripple. so i was wondering if is any form to eliminate or deacrease this ripple. if this is not posible is any other ICs that can use for supply negative voltage with out this output ripple voltage

thank you for your attention

  • Thank you for reading the datasheet.

What is your Vin and load?  Could you post a waveform of 'too much' output ripple?  This is very subjective.

You may want to consider evaluating the TPS60403 which has a fixed switching frequency of 250 kHz.  The higher frequency may be easier to filter out.

Lastly, you could invert a +5V supply and then take the resulting -5V supply and clean it up with an LDO, such as the TPS72301 or TPS7A3001.  This is a fairly typical architecture in these sorts of noise sensitive applications.
