TPS22933: Power Multiplexer design Implementation

Part Number: TPS22933
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A20, TPS2121, TPS2113A, TPS2115A

Hello All,

We are designing a battery operated system which will have a back-up power supply using USB when battery is down.

For this we are using TPS22933 Power Multiplexer, after studying the data sheet of the same we observed that the output current of the IC is 50mA,Where as we require the output current up-to 300mA,

So we have decided to connect an LDO IC  TPS7A20 at the output of the multiplexer which  supplies required output current.

If used in such combination will it work?

We request you to please provide us your suggestion on the same at the earliest.

  • Hi Utkarsh,

I am not familiar with the LDO in question but as a whole, I think that if you have only two sources, it will be beneficial to use a device like TPS2115A, TPS2113A or even TPS2121 as these PMUXes have higher current capabilities. This will reduce the number of devices required.

Would such a device be beneficial instead?
