TPS76901-HT: External Bias on Output

Part Number: TPS76901-HT

Hey team,

Would there be any issue when having the TPS76901-HT disabled and biasing the output voltage line externally? The input voltage will still be at 5V, but the device will be disabled, and an external 3.3 / 1.8 V will be on the output lines.

From what I can tell this shouldn't cause any issues, but I wanted to double check as I couldn't find a more detailed schematic of the internals on the datasheet.

Thanks!

  • Hi Cameron,

You are right, the LDO itself should be fine since the Vin is still higher than the output, the body diode of the pass-FET will not be turned on and there won't be reverse current concern. But when the device is disabled, there could be some weak discharging happening at the output. This LDO does not have an active discharging so the leakage should be in the range of uA if there is any.
