BQ78350-R1:BQ78350-R1

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76920, BQ78350
Good day. I work with bq76920 Evaluation Module. It worked normally with 3 cells, but after transition to 4 cells and change of chemistry on lifepo4 there is no display of tension of cells, it is impossible to change chemistry on previous, data are not written down in registers, voltage is not calibrated. At the same time current, temperature are calibrated and displayed. when trying to calibrate the voltage there is an error invalid Cell 0 voltage entered, when loading chemistry, too, there is an error Chemistry programming failed Error=1470

  • Hi,

Did you update the AFE Cell Map register in Data Memory when you added one more cell? Did you follow the steps in the 'Gauge Quick Start' section of the EVM User Guide? The AFE Cell Map is one of these steps.

I think this is important to resolve first because the other errors could be related.

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • I updated the data on the cells, but they are not stored in memory. in register mode, the voltage on the cells is not displayed. Chemistry and other settings are also not recorded in the registers. I figured out the calibration, it works. in the program bq769X0 Evaluation Software measurements take place and bq 920 works. I can't understand why the voltage on the cells is not displayed.

  • Check the voltage on the REGOUT pin. It should be 2.5V. If it is 0V, the BQ78350 is not being powered from the BQ76920 (it is in Shutdown mode) - you will need to wake the device by pressing the Boot button on the EVM.

  • The voltage at this terminal is 2.5 V. The current is measured at both discharge and charge. There is no measurement of voltage on the cells. I updated the cell data, but it is not stored in memory. when re-read there instead of 013 remains the value 000. it is impossible to record also the change of chemistry and data in the registers of protection. I have a suspicion that this is a bq78350 malfunction.

  • If you are not able to write or read from the data flash successfully, it seems there must be something wrong with the BQ78350 device. I suggest replacing the device on the EVM.

    Regards,

    Matt

  • OK. I am waiting for the delivery of a new chip. There is not enough description of the software, I had to spend a lot of time studying many settings, sometimes it is difficult to understand the purpose of individual registers and settings, without a deep knowledge of technical English. Some terms that are standard in the English version often lose their original meaning when translated, so it is quite difficult for us to understand, but we are persistent. Thanks.

  • Hi. The issue was resolved by flashing BQ350-R1 to version -R2. After that, everything worked.
