BQ25792: Is a regulated 5V SYS output possible?

I'm interested in whether this part can be used for an application with simultaneous

- Solar Input (12V+)

- 5V System Voltage, regulated, for USB devices etc.

- Charging of LiPo batteries

So it looks like the system voltage matches battery voltage under normal operation, therefore an additional regulator would be required to get a stable 5V.

Is that correct?

HI Calum,

That is correct. The SYS output is the higher of the MINSYS voltage or the battery voltage.

Also, for solar input, I recommend the BQ25798, which is the same as the BQ25792 but with MPP tracking feature enabled.

Yeah I saw BQ25798, but it doesn't look to be readily available yet.

Will certainly consider using that, but it looks to be pin compatible to switch out later.
