TPS22945: OC Pull-up Rail

Part Number: TPS22945

Hi Team,

The TPS22945 datasheet states that "OC is an open-drain MOSFET and requires a pullup resistor between VIN and OC". Can I pull-up the device to a rail other than VIN? For example, use the LS for a 5V application and pull-up OC to a separate 3.3V? It looks like it would be possible, but I just want to make sure there are no potential issues such as ESD diodes clamping OC to VIN (conducting if the 3.3V ramps before the 5V VIN).

Thanks,

Antonio

  • Antonio,

As long as the supply is referenced to the same ground as TPS22945's ground, the voltage doesn't exceed datasheet limit, and the resistor is chosen properly to limit the current, there is no problem to reference it to another rail.
